Kasten’s Dog Training is a family run business that was founded to help you “breathe life into our dog”.
After 18 years in the corporate world as Director of Operations, I felt the need to take a leap of faith and start Contain-A-Pet by Kasten’s Dog Training, Inc. I had the desire to become a dealer for Contain-A-Pet: a company that is protecting thousands of pets-allowing them to play, and stay, safely in their yards. However, I realized I wanted more. I needed to become a Dog Trainer who installs Electronic Pet Fencing. So I went to a nationally renowned school for Dog Trainers to enhance my existing knowledge of dogs and their behaviors, where I received certification for obedience and behavior modification.
In April 2016 I opened my new training, boarding and doggie day care center. After 11 years of selling, installing, and servicing the electronic pet fencing and with much thought and prayer, I felt a strong need for my presence at our new facility. Additionally changes within Contain-A-Pet inspired me to relinquish the dealership in 2017. Although profitable and needed, I wanted to concentrate on training, behavioral modification, boarding, and running the doggie day care. I also wanted to concentrate on continuing education for myself and staff so that we could breathe life into your dog. Collars or no collars? Clicker or no clicker? Treats or no treats? Positive reinforcement or negative reinforcement? The truth is that most methods have proven a certain amount of success, but few have proven the ability to withstand different circumstances, settings and distractions. Dogs are pack animals. That’s why my knowledge of dogs and their behaviors helps me read their personalities and make a professional evaluation for you, so that you will achieve your goals with your dog(s).
After years of training I still come back to: We have to learn to communicate to dogs at their level-not ours. This is done by Motivation, Correction and Praise! When we lead consistently with praise, reward and discipline dogs love it! They are not unhappy, nervous, or aggressive.
We look forward to serving you and your dog.
