Doggie Daycare

Kasten’s Dog Training provides a safe, clean, and fun environment for your dog’s daycare experience. Regular socialization gives your dog both the mental stimulation and physical exercise they need, which lowers stress and anxiety. Thus, you have a well-balanced dog at the end of the day.

Often, we hear “a tired dog is a good dog.” Although that may be true; too much exercise and overstimulation can cause behavioral issues in the days that follow. That is why we offer our daycare with a schedule balancing both exercise and rest. Each dog will have a play session in the morning and afternoon. This will give them rest between sessions, lowering the risk of overstimulation, injury, poor social choices, and burnout.

Kasten’s Doggie Daycare provides a secure, stimulating environment, both indoors and outdoors, in which your dog can enjoy off-leash play with other well-socialized dogs and puppies. Daycare is supervised by trained staff at all times in order to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all guests. Each new guest’s personality and temperament will be evaluated prior to group play and they will be assigned to the play group that most appropriately matches that guest’s overall needs, not necessarily just breed and size.

General Questions

Please bring your dog into our facility on a leash and collar or their Kasten’s Dog Training training tool. Meals should take place at home on daycare days.

Absolutely! In fact we encourage you to visit.  Call us at 574-522-7050 to schedule your tour.

Doggie Social Distancing is our owners avoiding their dog’s exposure to other dogs and places where other dogs have likely been where germs and viruses are more prevalent.  Although your dog is fully vaccinated, just like with the human flu vaccine, any dog can pick up a strain of the kennel cough virus and bring it into Kasten’s training center. To protect all dogs at the facility, 10 days prior to coming to Kasten’s Dog Training, we request that you avoid: the groomer, pet stores, dog parks, other kennel/training facilities, pet friendly stores, the neighbor’s dog, and the dogs of friends and family.  This does mean taking a break from daycare after a trip to the groomer or other dog populated areas.

Multiple dogs from the same household are welcome to kennel together if owner requests.  Kasten’s Dog Training reserves the right to separate dogs kenneling together for any reason including but not limited to: aggression, resource guarding, being disruptive, illness/injury, etc. Purchasing a package may be a wise choice to realize a discounted rate.

In order to participate in doggie daycare, a dog must be at least 18 weeks of age.

Doggie Daycare is available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, excluding holidays, three days prior and following holidays, and local school breaks such as spring break.

Our office is closed on major holidays (New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day). Kennel Care and training continue 365 days a year.

Health and Vaccinations

In the case of illness or injury, Kasten’s Dog Training will attempt to contact you and/or your emergency contact(s).  In the event you cannot be reached, we will assume the responsibility to seek medical attention, guided by the amount listed in your boarding or daycare contract.  We will make every attempt for care with your veterinarian; however, we reserve the right to choose any veterinary clinic.  All veterinary costs incurred will be the responsibility of the dog’s owner.

We require:

  • Distemper – given at least 72 hours prior to arrival and renewed every 1-3 years
  • Parvo – given at least 72 hours prior to arrival and renewed every 1-3 years
  • Rabies – given at least 72 hours prior to arrival and renewed every 1-3 years
  • Bordetella – Oral given at least 7 days prior to arrival and renewed yearly, nasal given at least 10 days prior to arrival and renewed yearly, or intravenous given at least 14 days prior to arrival and renewed yearly.

You must drop off or email your vaccination records to us prior to arrival, preferably 10 days or more prior.  You may register for our online reservation portal and upload your vaccines directly to your pet’s file. Lastly, many veterinarians will email your dog’s vaccination records on your behalf.  Our email address is sales@kastensdogtraining.com

It is preferred that your dog be spayed or neutered before any training or boarding session; however, it is not a requirement.  Female dogs in heat will not be allowed at Kasten’s Dog Training for training or boarding until their cycle is complete.  Should a  female go into heat during a boarding stay, they will be quarantined and the owner will incur additional charges due to extra cleaning, extra supplies, and additional effort involved with our staff.  If a female training dog goes into heat during their training program, their training will be postponed then resumed once their cycle is complete.   Each day a female dog in heat is in our facility is $75.

We ask that medications be given at home before or after daycare if at all possible. If medication must be given during daycare, we do not charge a fee to administer medications your dog is required to take.  Please make sure you bring enough medication for their entire stay and that all medications are clearly labeled with dosage instructions.  We are able to administer injections.

*** NOTE *** If there is a time-consuming process or non-routine care is required, a charge of $5 per event will be assessed.
