Puppy Preschool will make an invaluable contribution to your dog’s development!  We will show you how to stop play biting, crate train your puppy, housebreak your puppy, and offer insightful knowledge on how puppies think and the pack mentality.

Puppy training begins the moment you bring your new puppy home. Every year more than 5 million pets are euthanized in this country, mostly by owners who got off to a bad start with a new pet. This program seeks to teach new puppy owners how they can influence and shape the behavior of their growing puppy.

Puppy Preschool or some call it Puppy Classes (for puppies 8 to 16 weeks)

These classes offer exercises in socialization, confidence-building, and handling for you and your puppy as well as solutions for basic problem solving. Other owner educational topics include food/toy possessiveness, aggression, jumping, fear imprinting, basic grooming, and first aid.  The ultimate goal of these sessions is to guide you and your puppy in the critical communication process and development of trust that is essential to your relationship. Your puppy will also gain a better understanding of what is appropriate behavior around other people and dogs. So, you and your puppy will receive a one hour private consultation and 3-8 Monday night puppy classes for $100.00.

Puppy Preschool Enrollment Process

1.  Private Puppy Consultation
This is a personalized meeting with one of our trainers to evaluate your puppy’s personality and temperament.  We will provide direction and guidance based on your puppy’s breed and the information gathered during this meeting. We will also offer behavioral counseling with regards to house breaking, play biting, and chewing as well as answer any questions you have about your puppy or puppy preschool. You will receive a puppy owner’s manual at this time, and at the completion of this meeting, you and your puppy will be eligible to participate in our weekly preschool sessions.

2.  Health and Vaccination Requirements
Owners are required to have their puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian prior to attending the private puppy consultation.  Each puppy also must have completed at least the 1st round of vaccinations prior to this meeting. Owners shall provide the necessary documents showing the puppy is in good health and current on vaccinations.

3.  Puppy PreSchool Registration
Upon completion of the private consultation and receipt of documents for health and vaccination requirements, you and your puppy will be enrolled in our puppy preschool. Prior to beginning classes, your puppy should have been in your home for at least 7 days. Classes are every Monday night starting at 7:00 PM

A typical class consists of:

Q&A: We allow a portion of each class to address your personal concerns.

Puppy Socialization: There is a time for all puppies to be puppies and explore.

“Pass The Puppy”: Each puppy will be handled by other people of various ages, races, and size.

Object Socialization: You’ll learn how to introduce your puppy to vacuum sweepers, appliances, etc. Proper socialization during this short window of opportunity will guide your puppy’s development while he gains clear understanding of appropriate behavior.

Intro to Basic Commands: Your puppy will be introduced to the basic commands: Leash walking, Sit, Down, & Come.

Topic of the Day: We will discuss topics which prepare you for everyday living with your puppy such as housebreaking, play biting, and puppy care (grooming).

Agility/Confidence Builder: We will look at a small task to aid in your puppy’s development.
